Grown from rare, mid-century heirloom seeds dating back to the original Japanese imports of the 1940s. Slow-grown and a labor of love these Japanese natives grow significantly slower than most oysters (approximately 3-5 years!), but some things in life are worth the wait, and Kumos are one of them!
Petite but deeply satisfying, these oysters measure approximately 1-2 inches and offer a consistently delicious oyster on the half shell.

The delivery was great, however we got a few (3) oysters with nothing inside but sod. A little disappointing considering the price of the 60 oysters we bought and the size of some the oysters were a little larger than a quarter. The flavor was good but I think minor improvements would be better!

We love kumamotos! We ordered them for NYE to go with our seafood extravaganza. They were wonderful. We only had one out of the 30 we decided to toss. We had half of them raw on the halfshell and the other half for oysters Rockefeller the next day. We enjoyed it so much, we're ordering the sample pack for Valentine's Day.
