  • Description

Fat Bastards are our largest size of Tide Tumbled Pacific oysters. They are the big brother to our beloved Shigoku Oyster.

A lifelong pursuit perfected in 2009, the oysters are grown in spacious mesh bags, suspended 3 feet off the tidal floor.

Each bag is fixed to a float, which rolls the oysters with the ebb and flow of the tide, flipping the bag twice a day. This motion conditions the oysters to grow smooth shells with deep cups.

By floating at the top of the water column, the oysters feed on only the freshest algae, yielding a bright, savory flavor with plenty of briny liquor.

The deep shell is equally as smooth and stylish as the Shigoku, yet the larger size makes it perfect for grilling, steaming or slurping fresh from the shell.

    Quantity: 30 count
Flavor Profile: Strong brininess with a sweet finish and firm, plump texture.
    Size: approximately a 2.75 - 3.75 inch shell.

    Fat Bastards

They were ocean fresh. All of them were alive and ready to eat. A little salty, but the taste was wonderful. Used quite a few for Oyster shots!

Fantastic flavor, fresh, clean like just off the bed! Had plans for Oysters Rockefeller perhaps Po Boys but they didn’t make it!

    Fat Bastard oysters

I am a long time oyster eater from the east coast. Fat Bastards are my absolute favorite. The size up from Shigaku is perfect. I prefer a tumbled oyster as their shells are more delicate and beautiful. I am recycling the shells for a craft project. The flavor and texture is sublime. They arrived in a great box that is easy to dispose of. Looking forward to my next order!

Delicious. I had trouble shucking but I am 75 and not so strong. Beautifully packaged and arrived ice cold. Will order again.

    Fat Bastard Oysters

Arrived overnight to RI as fresh as the best local oysters. Plump, sweet, briny. Hints of cucumber and melon. Wonderful.

    Fat Bastards

Shipped to the Gulf Coast... Absolutely one of the best. Taste like the ocean, full bodied, toothsome, full of liquor and easy to shuck. Unbelievably large cups. Chill packages still frozen on arrival. Oysters were cold and tasty and did not last long! Almost didn't want to sully the flavor/texture experience with Mignonette! So good...

    Get in my Belly!!

My wife and I traveled to Seattle for our honeymoon in April of 2018 and the folks at the hotel recommended Taylor Shellfish as a great spot for fresh oysters. We had a blast! Our favorite items were the Dungeness Crab and the Fat Bastards. So for New Years this year I ordered up some Fat Bastards and learned to schuck them (it wasn’t that hard)! Highly recommend these delicious little bivalves and the location on Capitol Hill! We will be ordering again.
