Fifth generation members of Taylor Shellfish Farms Malindi Taylor and Jada Pearson wanted to create a space for women in the oyster and aquaculture world via Social Media. They want to tell stories, learn from other badass women in the industry, promote women in the global oyster community, and do some awesome fundraising. 

In an industry that is heavily male dominated, it is Girls That Shuck's mission to put a friendly reminder out there that girls like to shuck, farm, and research & are damn good at it! This group will be doing various rounds of fundraising for women's charities. 

Currently they are fundraising for The Billion Oyster Project. The Billion Oyster Project is a New York City-based nonprofit dedicated to restoring one billion oysters to New York Harbor by 2035.Founded in 2014 by the New York Harbor School, the initiative engages students, volunteers, and local communities in rebuilding oyster reefs, which naturally filter water, support marine biodiversity, and protect shorelines from erosion and storm surges. The project collaborates with over 100 schools and 60 restaurants, recycling millions of pounds of oyster shells to serve as habitat for juvenile oysters. As of late 2022, more than 100 million oysters have been restored across 16 acres of reef area, with over 11,000 students participating in hands-on marine science and conservation efforts.
